Lose weight by taking 20
to 30 minutes for your
meals.
Following
this simple rule can literally stop you
from overeating at meals! If
you are
taking the time to chew each bite thoroughly before swallowing, most
likely the
20 minutes will be up before you know it.
No
seconds until 20 minutes are up. Set
a timer if you have to. It
takes approximately 20 minutes for our brains to
signal our stomachs that we are full.
This is called satiety.
How
often did you leave the table feeling too full
and bloated because you ate too much.
And not just at Thanksgiving Dinner.
It was because you were eating too fast. When
you eat too fast, you wind up eating far too much for your
body to easily handle.
I
grew
up in a large family with 8 children and if
you took too long to eat, you missed out on any extras.
I sat next to my father and he always
finished his meal quickly, then he would start on mine.
Later
on, I married someone who inhaled his
food. Dinner was
over in less than five
minutes. Guess how
I used to eat?
I
have
a confession to make. I
was so concerned about my husband’s fast
eating; I set the timer for 20 minutes without him knowing about it. Now he eats more slowly,
his health is
better and he has dropped pounds almost effortlessly.
Now,
I
eat slowly too, and before I know it a half
an hour has passed and I have no desire for seconds.
Another bonus this has given me is no desire for
dessert because
I’m too full!
There are other benefits to eating slowly –
- You
will find yourself savoring each bite.
- You’ll
actually taste your food.
- You’ll
enjoy the different textures of the foods you
eat.
- You’ll
be amazed at how much more flavorful your
meals are.
- You’ll
find yourself planning more delightful meals
and,
- Best
of
all your main meal will be the event of the
day it’s supposed to be.
I’ll
let you in on how a secret of how you can
achieve this almost effortlessly.
By combining another secret - chewing your food 40
times before swallowing and
you’ll be able to take 20 to 30 minutes to eat your meal.
Now
you’ll be able to feel full naturally before
you’ve taken seconds. Keep
working on
learning to chew longer and before you know it, you’ll find
that you won’t even
want seconds!
